We do not seek
attribution.
We seek outcomes.
Kolosseum is a niche design consultancy operating at the intersection of precision engineering and extraordinary residential environments. We are not widely known. We are at peace with that.
We support projects across Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Darwin, and Hobart, with documentation issued for Australian and international teams.

Named for the most enduring engineered space in history.
Kolosseum takes its name and its disposition from a building that outlasted the civilisation that built it, not because of spectacle, but because of the geometry beneath it. Load paths. Ratios. Decisions made correctly, once, upstream.
A room designed correctly performs correctly. A system specified correctly integrates correctly. The installation is execution of a decision already made.
We exist to make that decision well.
For the integrators who build the world's finest residences.
We work alongside a small number of Australia's and the world's most accomplished residential integrators, firms whose projects appear, without attribution, in the most respected architectural publications.
Our name does not appear on their proposals. Our drawings carry their brand. Their clients never know we were involved, and that is precisely the arrangement these firms value most.
For the private clients who require independent counsel.
The families and individuals who engage us directly have typically discovered, at some cost, that the technology industry is not structured to serve their interests. Integrators are paid by margin. Dealers are paid by volume. No one in the supply chain is contractually obligated to specify the right solution over the profitable one.
We are. We carry no commercial relationships with the manufacturers we specify. Our fee is paid by the client. This is the only arrangement that makes independent advice possible.

Paul McLean is a specialist in luxury AV design, documentation, and engineering for integrators. With a career dedicated to the precise execution of residential technology, he advocates for a standard where the quality of a project is determined long before the first cable is run.
Recognised in the CEDIA community for his technical rigour, Paul champions the belief that excellence is not an accident but a product of meticulous planning. His work focuses on elevating documentation standards in the integration industry, ensuring that complex systems are delivered with the same engineering discipline as the architecture they inhabit.

Four commitments that have never been renegotiated.
Discretion
The most significant work we have been part of exists nowhere online. This is not a limitation, it is the standard our clients require, and one we set for ourselves long before they asked.
Independence
We carry no dealer agreements, no volume commitments, no brand allegiances that precede the client brief. Every recommendation is made because it is the right answer for this room, not because it is the convenient one.
Precision
Home cinema, lighting control, and automation are disciplines of applied mathematics. We produce documentation to a standard that a competent installer can execute without calling us, because if they need to call, the document is incomplete.
Continuity
Our relationships with the integrators and families we work alongside are not transactional. The firms we have supported for years bring us in at design stage, because they have learned what the documentation set protects them from.
If you would like to know the quality of our work, ask the integrators who lead your market.
We are a long-standing CEDIA member and active contributor to the advancement of residential AV standards in the APAC region. Our founder has served as a judge for international home cinema awards, reviewing installations at the highest level of the discipline and understanding, firsthand, what separates a system that merely functions from one that performs.
That standard informs every drawing set we produce.
The overwhelming majority of our engagements are governed by confidentiality agreements. The absence of a public portfolio is not a reflection of the depth of our experience, it is a reflection of the trust placed in us by those we serve. We consider the inability to show our work one of the finest things anyone has ever said about us.
If our work has been described to you, you already know what to do next.
We do not maintain a business development function. New relationships form through conversation, introduction, and the kind of trust that takes time to build. If you've been sent here by someone you respect in this industry, we welcome the introduction.
