Krix home cinema: Sound, built into the picture.
Krix has spent more than five decades building loudspeakers around the realities of cinema. This guide turns that pedigree into a room-first planning path for a dedicated home cinema.

Acoustically transparent screen
The acoustically transparent screen is covering the loudspeaker stage.

Krix traces its beginning to Scott Krix and the Acoustic Foundry in Goodwood, Adelaide, in 1974. Four years later, the Capri Theatre commissioned a new cinema loudspeaker system. The domestic range that followed has always carried that commercial-cinema frame of reference.
That history matters because a cinema loudspeaker is not selected in isolation. Coverage, screen construction, amplifier headroom, room volume and the acoustic envelope determine whether the system belongs in the room.

A cinema system is a chain of spatial decisions.
The useful question is not which loudspeaker looks strongest on a specification sheet. It is how the front stage, surround field, low-frequency system and amplifier map resolve together inside the architecture.
- Front stage
Sound through the picture.
Series MX is designed for an acoustically transparent screen, placing the left, centre and right channels behind the image. Screen width, baffle-wall depth and acoustic treatment become one coordinated section.
- Surround field
Coverage is spatial, not decorative.
On-wall and installation models such as Phonix, Hyperphonix and OWX solve different aiming, output and clearance conditions. Their position is drawn from seat geometry and coverage, not from an empty patch of wall.
- Low-frequency field
Bass starts in the architecture.
Subwoofer count, location, enclosure depth and structural access should be settled before first fix. Distributed bass and active field-control strategies demand even earlier coordination.
- Power and control
The amplifier map belongs in the drawing set.
Channel count, impedance, bridge mode, DSP and limiter requirements determine the amplifier architecture. The result should be a documented signal and power path, not a late rack-room substitution.
A front wall resolved as one system.
Krix describes the current Series MX generation around MX-20 Mk2, MX-30i and MX-40i. The modular systems are intended to reproduce sound directly through the picture, following the same fundamental arrangement used in commercial cinemas.
The acoustically transparent screen is therefore not an accessory decision. Its size, weave or perforation, viewing distance, speaker clearance and baffle-wall construction all affect the final design.

Bass as a controlled field.
Krix documents a 5.8 by 4.4 by 3.2 metre development room used to demonstrate Trinnov's bass-control technology in a 5.8.4 cinema configuration. Krix described it as the first working demonstration outside Trinnov headquarters and ISE at the time.
That is evidence of active research, not a universal compatibility claim. WaveForming still depends on room geometry, array placement, discrete subwoofer channels, amplification and an appropriate Trinnov Altitude processor.
Two instruments. Two different decisions.
Use the room-fit study first, then resolve the amplifier path. Both are preliminary planning aids; neither replaces dealer engineering, final specification or commissioning.

The answers below define the boundary between preliminary brand guidance and a resolved project specification.
Kolosseum works in one of two ways. We are appointed directly as the client's independent design consultant, or engaged confidentially as the integrator's white-label design partner — never both on the same project.
This page and its tools evaluate fit within the Krix range. They do not compare Krix with other loudspeaker brands. Krix participates in Kolosseum's SPARK initiative. Any commercial benefit connected with an introduction will be disclosed before project details are shared.
The loudspeakers may be selected. The room is not yet resolved.
