KA-1100
Krix KA-1100 Dual-Mono Subwoofer Amplifier
Krix KA-1100 is a dual-mono Class D subwoofer amplifier with three pre-configured DSP modes optimised for Krix passive subwoofers. Delivers up to 700W RMS per channel at 4Ω with fan-less operation, 12V trigger, and balanced/unbalanced inputs.
Overview
The Krix KA-1100 is the first subwoofer amplifier designed and engineered in-house by Krix — Australia's longest-running loudspeaker manufacturer, established in 1974. Built around ICEpower™ Class D amplification and a custom Krix 24-bit signal processor board, the KA-1100 was developed specifically to drive and maximise the performance of Krix passive subwoofers. Three pre-configured DSP modes replace the need for any external crossover or DSP hardware. Mode 1 and Mode 2 apply a variable low-pass filter (50–200Hz) and a high-pass filter tuned to the acoustic parameters of specific Krix subwoofer models, with output limits of 300W and 500W per channel respectively — protecting the driver while delivering optimal performance. Mode 3 bypasses the low-pass filter entirely and raises the output ceiling to 700W per channel, suited to general subwoofer use where an active crossover is provided upstream. The KA-1100 features a fully fan-less design — critical in home cinema environments where amplifier noise can contaminate quiet film passages. A 12V trigger input allows the amplifier to power on and off automatically with the rest of the system. Brushed aluminium fascia, rack ears included, and an extremely low distortion floor (0.001% THD+N at 200W/4Ω) make this a technically serious and aesthetically considered subwoofer amplifier for premium cinema installations.

Integrating the Krix KA-1100 into a Home Cinema System
The Krix KA-1100 is the natural amplifier pairing for any home cinema system using Krix MX-5, MX-10, Cyclonix 11, or Cyclonix 12 passive subwoofers. Its pre-configured DSP modes mean no external DSP or crossover unit is required for these specific subwoofer models — the KA-1100 handles frequency shaping, high-pass protection, and output limiting internally. At Kolosseum, the KA-1100 is specified in two-channel subwoofer configurations where the processor's dual LFE outputs feed both amplifier channels directly, delivering independent drive to each subwoofer driver. The 12V trigger integrates with StormAudio, Trinnov, and most major processors for seamless power sequencing.
Room Requirements
The KA-1100 is 2U height (97mm including feet and rack ears). Allow rear clearance for balanced XLR and speaker terminal cable harness. Fan-less operation means it can be rack-mounted immediately adjacent to processors without airflow isolation.
Recommended Screen Pairing
As a dedicated subwoofer amplifier, the KA-1100 is display-agnostic and integrates into the audio chain independent of projector or screen selection.
Acoustic Considerations
When using Modes 1 or 2, the KA-1100's internal LPF and HPF handle subwoofer band shaping. Room correction (e.g. Trinnov Optimizer or Dirac Live) should be calibrated after the KA-1100's mode is set, to avoid stacking filter corrections. In Mode 3, the upstream processor should handle all bass management and LPF filtering.
Frequently Asked Questions About the Krix KA-1100 Dual-Mono Subwoofer Amplifier.
The KA-1100 is specifically optimised for the Krix MX-5 Sub, MX-10 Sub, Cyclonix 11, and Cyclonix 12 via its Mode 1 and Mode 2 DSP presets. Mode 3 (LPF bypass, 700W limit) is intended for general subwoofer use and is compatible with any passive subwoofer driver when the crossover is handled upstream.
Mode 1 applies a 50–200Hz variable LPF and limits output to 300W per channel — suited to smaller Krix subwoofers like the MX-5 and Cyclonix 11. Mode 2 raises the output limit to 500W per channel — suited to the MX-10 and Cyclonix 12. Mode 3 bypasses the LPF and raises the output ceiling to 700W per channel for general subwoofer use where an active crossover is provided upstream by the processor.
No. The KA-1100 uses a fully fan-less passive cooling design, making it completely silent in operation. This is a significant advantage in home cinema environments where amplifier fan noise is audible during quiet film passages.
The KA-1100's pre-configured DSP modes (1 and 2) are not calibrated for the Cyclonix 15 or Cyclonix 18. For these higher-power drivers, Krix and Kolosseum recommend the LEA Network Connect 1504 or LEA Network Connect 3004 (for the MX-30i and MX-40i subs), which provide higher output and configurable DSP to suit larger drivers.
Yes. Mode 3 bypasses the Krix-specific filter profiles and provides 700W per channel at 4Ω with a flat frequency response. In this mode, bass management and crossover filtering should be handled by the upstream processor. The KA-1100 can drive any passive subwoofer rated for 700W or below at 4Ω in Mode 3.
The Krix KA-1100 is priced at AUD $2,395 RRP in Australia.
