Megaphonix
Krix Megaphonix Horn-Loaded On-Wall Cinema Speaker
Krix flagship horn-loaded on-wall cinema speaker with proprietary Oblate Spheroid waveguide technology. Available in flat, angled (45°) and in-wall formats.
Overview
The Krix Megaphonix is the flagship of the Krix on-wall cinema speaker range, designed for dedicated home theater installations where behind-screen placement is not possible. It employs Krix's proprietary Oblate Spheroid waveguide technology to achieve controlled, wide-bandwidth dispersion from a large-format horn-loaded enclosure. The Megaphonix is available in multiple form factors: the standard on-wall version for direct front-wall mounting, the Flat variant with a shallower profile for tighter wall-clearance installations, and in-wall versions including the Megaphonix In-Wall and Megaphonix Centre In-Wall for flush-fitted applications. A dedicated Megaphonix Centre (horizontal format) is also available for the centre channel position. The 45° angled Phonix 45 and Hyperphonix 45 sit in the same on-wall family and share design DNA with the Megaphonix platform. All Megaphonix variants are passive speaker systems finished in Cinema Black, and are engineered to deliver high-sensitivity, high-output performance with the horn directivity characteristics that Krix is known for.

Integrating the Krix Megaphonix in a Home Cinema Design
The Megaphonix is Kolosseum's go-to recommendation when a client wants the performance of a dedicated cinema horn-loaded system without committing to a behind-screen MX Series installation. It delivers the character and dynamics of commercial cinema in an on-wall format that works in a wider range of room configurations.
Room Requirements
The standard Megaphonix requires adequate front wall depth and height for mounting. The Flat variant suits tighter wall clearances. Kolosseum accounts for speaker projection and listening axis in room layout drawings to ensure correct toe-in and height placement.
Recommended Screen Pairing
When paired with a front-projection system, the Megaphonix works with masking-frame screens where the speaker sits to the side or above/below the screen plane. Alternatively, the in-wall variants can be installed behind a perforated screen for a hybrid approach.
Acoustic Considerations
Horn-loaded designs offer high directivity, which reduces room interaction and simplifies treatment. Kolosseum designs first-reflection zones around the horn pattern and specifies absorption accordingly to maintain impact without excessive reverb.
Frequently Asked Questions About the Krix Megaphonix Horn-Loaded On-Wall Cinema Speaker.
The standard Megaphonix has a deeper cabinet profile suited to installations where wall depth is not constrained. The Megaphonix Flat is a slimmer on-wall variant designed for tighter wall clearance situations while retaining the same driver and waveguide topology.
The standard on-wall Megaphonix is designed for surface mounting in front of the screen plane. The Megaphonix In-Wall variant is the appropriate choice for flush behind-screen installation. Kolosseum specifies the correct variant based on room design.
Yes. The Megaphonix Centre and Megaphonix Centre In-Wall are horizontal-format variants optimised for centre channel placement below or above the screen. They share the same driver and waveguide technology as the main Megaphonix.
The Megaphonix is a passive speaker system. Its high sensitivity means it does not require enormous amplifier power, but quality amplification is important for best results. Kolosseum pairs it with appropriate multi-channel amplifiers selected during the system design phase.
