Phonix / Phonix 45 / Phonix Flat
Krix Phonix On-Wall Cinema Speaker Family
Krix Phonix on-wall speaker family for dedicated home cinema. Available in standard, 45° angled, and flat variants for screen channel and surround positions.
Overview
The Krix Phonix is the mid-range horn-loaded on-wall speaker in the Krix dedicated cinema family, sitting between the compact OWX Series and the flagship Megaphonix. Like all Krix dedicated cinema speakers, it is built around a horn-loaded compression driver and mid/bass section with controlled directivity to ensure consistent coverage across a wide listening area. The Phonix family includes three variants: the standard Phonix for LCR front-wall placement, the Phonix Flat with a shallower on-wall profile for tighter installations, and the Phonix 45 with a 45° angled baffle that allows the speaker to be positioned on side walls while directing sound toward the listening position — making it particularly well suited to surround and rear surround roles in dedicated cinema rooms. An in-wall version (Phonix In-Wall) is also available for flush-mounted applications. All variants share the same sonic character and driver technology, ensuring consistent tonal matching throughout an installation.

Integrating the Krix Phonix Family in a Home Cinema
At Kolosseum, the Phonix family provides excellent flexibility for rooms where a full Megaphonix installation is not required or where the surround and rear surround speakers need to blend aesthetically and sonically with the front channels. The Phonix 45 is particularly effective in dedicated cinema rooms with side-wall surround placement, redirecting output toward the listening area from an angled baffle.
Room Requirements
Phonix variants suit a wide range of room sizes. The angled Phonix 45 requires sufficient side-wall height for correct positioning relative to the listening tier. Kolosseum specifies mounting heights and angles during room design to optimise the surround image.
Recommended Screen Pairing
The Phonix In-Wall variant is compatible with behind-screen placement using acoustically transparent perforated screens. Standard and Flat variants are positioned at or beside the screen plane depending on screen format.
Acoustic Considerations
Horn-loaded designs offer inherent directivity control. In surround positions, the Phonix 45 projects sound into the room at a controlled angle, reducing wall-bounce effects. Kolosseum treatment designs account for the specific dispersion pattern of each speaker position.

The standard Phonix is designed for front-wall LCR placement with a flat baffle facing directly toward the listening position.
